SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) - A Bryant University student is being held on charges that he broke into a fellow student’s dorm room and sexually assaulted her.

Daniel Jaramillo was arrested last week and charged with burglary, sexual assault and disorderly conduct. The 20-year-old Jaramillo was arraigned last week and is being held until a bail hearing Oct. 9. He has not yet entered a plea, and it was not clear whether he has an attorney.

The alleged victim told police she was sleeping early Thursday and awoke to see a man she didn’t know at her bedside. She told them she had been sexually assaulted, and that she and her roommate chased the man away.

Jaramillo was later detained by campus police and arrested by Smithfield police.
