DETROIT (AP) - Well-known astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is speaking at a Detroit event aiming to help students improve their lives through higher education.

The host of television’s recent “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” series and director of New York’s Hayden Planetarium speaks Tuesday evening at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The keynote address is part of the Wayne County Community College District’s Chancellor’s Banquet.

Tickets are $150. Proceeds go to the community college’s Scholarship Foundation, designed for students who couldn’t otherwise afford to attend the school.
