SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A group of Georgia lawmakers is scheduled to hold a meeting this week in Savannah to discuss how national policy issues could impact the education of medical professionals.

The House Study Committee on Medical Education is scheduled to meet Thursday at the Memorial Health Hoskins Center in Savannah.

In a statement. Republican Rep. Butch Parrish of Swainsboro says part of the goal is also hearing directly from medical professionals on why they got into the field and why they’re choosing to practice in Georgia.

Part of the committee’s task is to retain more practitioners who were educated in Georgia.
