SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Gov. Gary Herbert is headed to Brazil next month with government officials and state business leaders on a trade mission to the South American country.

The Utah Office of Economic Development says in a news release that Herbert and the group will be in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Nov. 4-11.

Officials say the trip will offer Utah an opportunity to promote its economy as one of the best in the United States.

Utah officials also plan to showcase the state as a tourist destination for Brazilians, who already account for a large percentage of the state’s international visitors.

Gary Neeleman, the honorary consul of Brazil in Utah, will visit Sao Paulo ahead of the trip to help organize the trip.
