PHOENIX (AP) - The state parks department plans nearly $1.9 million of improvements to Lake Havasu State Park.

The planned work to the park located in western Arizona on the Colorado River includes construction of five new restroom buildings and a lift station for boats.

The five new restroom buildings would replace existing buildings that are slated for demolition.

Parks officials say it’s impractical to bring the existing facilities into compliance with current building codes, including requirements for access for the physically disabled.

About half of the funding would come from a state fund for improvements to lake and related facilities.

The other half would come from a federal fund that provides matching dollars to state and local governments or outdoor recreation facilities.
