YORK, S.C. (AP) - A Rock Hill man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing a man earlier this year.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported (https://bit.ly/YNjuuR ) that 20-year-old Abbdul Omar Emmanuel had pleaded guilty in July to voluntary manslaughter and other crimes in the January shooting death of 25-year-old Michael Giddens.

Emmanuel was sentenced Monday in York.

Prosecutors said Emmanuel and some high school students had gone to buy drugs from a man with Giddens and found Giddens in a chair with a sawed-off shotgun. They say Emmanuel shot Giddens and ran.
