CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. (AP) - Two men are at large after firing numerous shots at people visiting a Cathedral City cemetery and then fleeing into the desert north of Palm Springs.

Police Sgt. Scott Sharpe tells The Desert Sun (https://desert.sn/1rpsWBt ) several callers reported shots fired around 6:28 p.m. Monday at Desert Memorial Park. No one was hit and the car left the scene.

Sharpe says officers in an unmarked police car spotted a vehicle matching the suspects’ car and began following it north toward Desert Hot Springs. The officers finally turned on their emergency lights but the car failed to stop and a pursuit began.

The fleeing car eventually reached the end of a road and sped into the desert, and the officers discontinued the chased.

A loaded handgun was found on the road.
