HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say the body of a New York City man missing since the weekend has been recovered near Reynolds Channel on Long Island.

The NYPD says the body of Dwayne Ballantine of Queens was found floating in the water near Atlantic Beach Bridge in Hempstead around noon Wednesday.

Nassau County police say the body had floated east from Rockaway Beach.

Ballantine was reported missing on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for the NYPD tells Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1Bd78uG ) that he went into the water and couldn’t swim.



His death is not considered suspicious.
