SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says he has no expectations on when he will hear whether five football players investigated for possible academic dishonesty will be allowed to return to play.

Kelly told the media at his Thursday evening news conference that he was told Monday the honor code hearings would take place quickly. He says he hasn’t heard anything new since.

He says his focus is on the players who will be on the field when the 16th-ranked Irish (1-0) face Michigan (1-0) on Saturday. But he says if he got the players back on Friday, they would play on Saturday.

The university benched KeiVarae Russell, DaVaris Daniels, Ishaq Williams, Kendall Moore and Eilar Hardy while it determines whether someone did academic work for them.
