TUCUMCARI, N.M. (AP) - A state magistrate judge has dropped child abuse charges against a New Mexico State Police officer.

The Portales News-Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/aKScFx) Quay County Magistrate Court Judge Joel Garnett ruled Wednesday there was no probable cause to support child abuse allegations against Isaac Vigil.

Vigil was arrested last month after Tucumcari officers responded to a report of domestic violence involving his live-in girlfriend.

A misdemeanor charge of battery against a household member is still pending against Vigil.

Attorney Kirk Chavez says his client is “completely innocent.”

Vigil is on paid administrative leave.
