GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - An 80-year-old man from Tennessee has been hospitalized after a kayaking accident in Grand Teton National Park.

Officials say Gerald Skinner of Brentwood, Tennessee, apparently overturned in the Snake River Thursday and lost consciousness.

He was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Officials there said Friday they could not release any information.

Officials say Skinner was kayaking with his son when the accident occurred. The son called 911 and rangers were dispatched.

The son’s name wasn’t immediately released. Officials say both were wearing life jackets.

Two firefighters from Colorado who were fishing nearby provided medical care until rangers arrived. Officials say Skinner was breathing but wasn’t responsive.

Officials say a helicopter and ground ambulance took Skinner to the air ambulance, which carried him to the hospital.
