LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police allege that an 18-year-old was under the influence of methamphetamine and attempted to murder a Las Vegas police officer who tried to stop his vehicle as he drove past the scene of an earlier accident.

Jacob Alexander Groh was held Friday at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas pending an initial court appearance on charges that could also include hit-and-run in another crash while fleeing police.

Groh was arrested at his Henderson home late Thursday, almost four hours after Las Vegas police Officer Stuart Richmond was struck and injured near Windmill Lane and Eastern Avenue.

Richmond treated for what police said were knee and hip injuries. He’s expected to recover.

An 18-year-old who police say ran from Groh’s car, Aaron Miller, is facing a misdemeanor charge.
