JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Vicksburg man has appealed his 35-year sentence for the beating death of his girlfriend in 2011.

Hull was convicted in Warren County in 2013 for the death of 40-year-old Angela Andrews. Hull, who is a previously convicted felon, was sentenced as a habitual offender.

Prosecutors say Hull beat Andrews unconscious Dec. 4, 2011. Warren County 911 records show Hull called the next morning to report Andrews was not breathing the next morning.

Hull argued that he and Andrews were fighting when Andrews fell and injured her head on a block of concrete.

Andrews died of head trauma at a Jackson hospital.

The case is among dozens the Appeals Court will consider during its September-October term. It is not hearing oral arguments in the case.
