COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Police in Columbus say an 18-year-old high school student stole his teacher’s Mercedes.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports that (https://bit.ly/1rRkuf5 ) 18-year-old Corvan Moody was charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle and appeared in Recorder’s Court Friday.

A police officer told the court the 68-year-old teacher reported the silver 2014 E350 Mercedes missing around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The teacher told the court she accidentally left her keys on the desk.

Police say they found the car in Moody’s possession about half an hour after it was reported missing. The car was not damaged.

Moody did not make a statement during the hearing. A judge set a $10,000 bond for Moody.
