PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakotans have until Nov. 3 to apply for a break on state property taxes for fixing up historic buildings.

The eight-year property tax moratorium is for restoration and rehabilitation work completed on historic sites during 2014.

The moratorium is available for buildings listed on the National or State Register of Historic Places and rehabilitated in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

The state says the 18 projects approved for the program in 2013 represented more than $7.5 million in private investment.
