FORT GRATIOT, Mich. (AP) - Lightning has struck and killed a 12-year-old horse at a farm in St. Clair County.

Amy DeLange, owner of Phoenix Farms, says lightning also is blamed for a fire at the stable in Fort Gratiot. Firefighters responded around 11 p.m. Friday, a night of severe storms across Michigan.

DeLange tells the Port Huron Times Herald (https://bwne.ws/1oblrHW ) that about 20 horses lives at her farm. The arena was saved from the fire, but stalls, tack rooms and hay worth $15,000 were destroyed.

No people were injured.
