BENTON, Ill. (AP) - A southern Illinois judge is deliberating the fate of a man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire.

Franklin County Circuit Judge Thomas Tedeschi began weighing the case of 30-year-old Christopher Rollins after a trial Thursday on a felony charge of aggravated battery.

West Frankfort police have said emergency responders dispatched in August 2012 to a report of a woman burning in a backyard found victim Tessa Leech.

Now 24, Leech survived but sustained burns over much of her body and says she has had 17 surgeries.

Leech testified Rollins doused her twice with cleaning solvent and set her ablaze after Rollins accused her of being unfaithful.

Rollins told police it was Leech who put the lighter to use. He did not testify.
