NEW BUFFALO, Mich. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says it rescued a boater in Lake Michigan after he failed to appear as expected in southwestern Michigan.

The man was discovered in his boat around 8 a.m. Saturday near Bridgman, Michigan. He left Chicago’s Diversey Harbor and had been expected in New Buffalo, Michigan, by 4 p.m. Friday.

The Coast Guard says he had a life jacket but no cellphone. The man’s name wasn’t released. The boat was towed to shore.
