MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Administration officials say August revenues for state’s three major funds did not meet their projections.

Secretary of Administration Jeb Spaulding says the general fund was nearly 4 percent below the target. The transportation fund also was below target by 7.3 percent and the education fund came in 2.8 percent below its monthly mark.

But Spaulding said Friday that both the sales and rooms tax and the meals tax came in above targets by about 4.5 percent. He says those taxes are a good barometer of economic activity.
