MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A small plane towing an ad banner crashed into the Atlantic Ocean about 200 yards off Miami Beach.

The Coast Guard says police reported the downed Cessna aircraft Saturday afternoon.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the single-engine aircraft lost power and ditched into the ocean.

The Coast Guard says the pilot was rescued by Miami Beach lifeguards. Bergen says the pilot was the only person on board and no injuries were reported.

The plane was fully submerged. The Coast Guard says crews are working to recover the wreckage and mitigate any pollution.

The plane is registered to Aerial Banners Inc. in Pembroke Pines.
