LORAIN, Ohio (AP) - Last month’s fire at a historic church in northeast Ohio has been ruled arson.

A committee is offering a $5,000 reward for information about the blaze that heavily damaged First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, about 30 miles west of Cleveland. The fire marshal’s office issued a statement Friday saying the fire was arson.

An investigation by the fire marshal’s office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found there had been a break-in at the church before the fire was set Aug. 28. They are trying to determine if that played a role in the blaze.

The fire destroyed much of the 90-year-old sanctuary and a pipe organ believed to be worth $1 million.
