FORT MCDOWELL, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say two horses temporarily blocked traffic on a freeway just north of the Fort McDowell Casino.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the horses somehow got through a fence Sunday morning and ended up in the northbound lanes of State Route 87.

DPS officials say they stopped traffic for a short time in order to coax one of the horses off the roadway.

Officers were able to get them back behind the fence and even repair the fence.

It was not clear who owned the horses.
