KAUKAUNA, Wis. (AP) - An explosion damaged a paper mill and injured a worker in Outagamie County.

Kaukauna Fire Department Lt. Heath Lietzanbuechel tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1BkQY2b) firefighters think the coal bunker that fuels the plant’s boiler blew up at the Kaukauna mill owned by Expera Specialty Solutions about 10:20 p.m. Saturday.

He says one worker was burned but did not have to be taken to a hospital.

Firefighters estimate the explosion caused about $500,000 in damage. It took firefighters about 50 minutes to douse flames.

Expera was formed last year with the merger of Thilmany Papers and 114-year-old Wausau Paper and became the largest paper company in Wisconsin by employment.
