GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Organizers of Greeley’s Chalk-A-Lot say nearly 2,000 artists fell about two miles short of their goal of creating the longest chalk drawing in the world.

The Greeley Tribune (https://bit.ly/1Angxxs ) reports that participants in the Saturday event made one and one-half miles of colorful and creative artwork across two University of Northern Colorado parking lots. They had hoped to break the Guinness World Record of nearly four miles of nature-themed chalk art.

The art included chalky images of flowers, hot air balloons, deep sea creatures and sunsets. The chalk event was the first of its kind.

Ed Rogers, a member of the city’s Creative District Board, says organizers accomplished their larger goal of engaging the community.
