MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) - A man who has waged a legal battle to continue renting a northern New Jersey mansion owned by “Real Housewives of New Jersey” co-stars Melissa and Joe Gorga says he will end his fight.

The Star-Ledger (https://bit.ly/1w4XiuM) reports that Kai Patterson announced his intentions in a statement issued Saturday night. That came just days after a judge issued a “judgment of possession” in the Gorgas favor and ordered Patterson to pay $30,821 or face immediate eviction.

The Gorgas have been trying to evict Patterson from the Montville residence. They claim he has not paid his rent and failed to live up to his lease-purchase agreement that called for a $3.8 million sale price for the 13,500-square-foot home.

Paterson called his relationship with the couple “too unhealthy” and said he recently found another home where he plans to live. But he declined to provide details about the new home.

Paterson issued another statement Sunday morning that indicated he intends to move out by Sept. 27. He says he will owe the Gorgas “absolutely nothing” if he meets that deadline.

The Gorgas’ lead attorney, Frank Catania, could not be reached for comment Sunday.

The Gorgas have been staying in Franklin Lakes but have said they would like to return to the Montville mansion, so their three children may attend schools there.
