TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa County police say a boy has been hospitalized after being mauled by a neighbor’s pit bull.

Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit Captain Gary Hood tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/1akwgry ) the 9-year-old boy was taken to Children’s of Alabama hospital in Birmingham after the attack Wednesday afternoon.

Hood says the boy suffered injuries to his face, head, stomach and legs. Hood says the boy was critically injured but is expected to survive.

No charges have been filed and Hood says the attack is under investigation.
