CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a 10-year-old boy has been wounded in a shooting in Center Point.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s spokesman Randy Christian said in a statement that the child was shot in the stomach in the Wednesday afternoon shooting northeast of Birmingham.

Center Point Mayor Tom Henderson tells Al.com that a man walking down the street was being chased by a dog, started shooting at it and missed.

Center Point Fire Chief Donnie West says a second person was treated on the scene and the boy was taken to Children’s of Alabama.

Investigators are searching for the shooter and a detailed description of the suspect wasn’t immediately available.
