CANTON, Kan. (AP) - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting of a central Kansas man by two sheriff’s deputies.

The McPherson County sheriff’s office says in a news release that the man was shot Tuesday night at his home near Canton.

Deputies who had gone to his house to follow up on an earlier incident saw the man standing near a garage pointing a shotgun at them. The statement says the deputies shot once after he refused several orders to drop the shotgun and pointed it at one of the deputies.

The man was taken to a hospital. His name and condition were not available Wednesday.

Neither deputy was injured.
