SEATTLE (AP) - Thomas E. Perez, the U.S. secretary of labor, joined Mayor Ed Murray and others in Seattle to discuss paid leave policies.

Perez visited a Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream shop Wednesday in the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. The event was part of a national push by Perez to tout the benefits of paid leave policies for workers and employers.

Earlier, Perez joined Murray to discuss the city’s new increased minimum wage law, which began taking effect Wednesday.
