NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Transportation Security Administration says a loaded semi-automatic handgun was found in the carry-on bag of a traveler at Norfolk International Airport.

The TSA says the Virginia Beach woman was stopped by TSA officers early Wednesday at a checkpoint. The TSA officers said the weapon contained seven rounds, including one in the chamber.

The weapon was detected by an officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine.

The TSA says Norfolk Airport Authority Police confiscated the gun and the ammunition and issued a summons.
