DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have charged a man acquitted in the slaying of his girlfriend’s father with perjury and bribing a witness.

Detectives arrested 26-year-old Gerard Schweiger of Dover on Tuesday.

On Aug. 29, a Kent County jury acquitted Schweiger of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 45-year-old Tony Mozick in January 2013.

Prosecutors say Mozick was stabbed to death in his Leipsic home, and his body was dumped from a bridge into the Leipsic River. Mozick was the father of Jennifer Barnes, who was Schweiger’s girlfriend at the time.

The jury convicted Schweiger of abusing a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.

State Police say after Schweiger was acquitted of murder, a recorded conversation between him and an unidentified person revealed Schweiger’s admission that he had killed Mozick.
