PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland Fire & Rescue says an extensively burned 45-year-old man found early Wednesday at a north Portland intersection has died of his injuries.

Lt. Joseph Troncoso says fire investigators believe the burn victim got too close while stoking a warming fire and his clothing caught fire.

He was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital, where he died. The man was not immediately identified.

The fire department said it was Portland’s third death from fire-related causes so far this year.
