DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Police say a motorcyclist who lost control of his bike and slid into oncoming traffic has died.

The Des Moines Police Department received reports of the collision a little before 9 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of East 27th Street and Hubbell Avenue in Des Moines. Officers arrived at the scene to find a man unresponsive and bleeding in the street.

Authorities identified the man Wednesday as 46-year-old Rodney Wayne McCloney, of Des Moines. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where he later died.

Police say evidence gathered at the scene indicates that McCloney was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his motorcycle, skidded across the center line into westbound traffic and collided with a minivan. They say he then bounced into another vehicle.
