PHOENIX (AP) - An Arizona lawmaker has been taken to a hospital from the state Capitol after suffering a severe migraine headache.

House Speaker David Gowan said Wednesday that Chandler Republican Rep. J.D. Mesnard was at St. Joseph’s Hospital in stable condition and undergoing tests.

House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham says Mesnard had a severe migraine and took some medication. He then briefly fell unconscious and was treated by a doctor on duty at the House for the day.

The 34-year-old was taken to the hospital by an ambulance crew.
