ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - The U.S. Postal Service will eliminate 15 positions, including seven full-time employees, from its mail sorting facility in Rock Springs.

Postal Service spokesman David Rupert says the action is part of a consolidation effort that will result in the closing of the Rock Springs facility.

Once the Rock Springs facility is closed, all mail will head to Salt Lake City.

Rupert tells the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner (https://bit.ly/1CaJ4pR ) that local mail is expected to take two days for delivery after the change.

The consolidation will reduce the Rock Springs postal office to about 41 workers.

But the Postal Service will maintain a retail department where customers still will be able to buy stamps and send packages.
