OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A 27-year-old Omaha resident has been accused of fatally shooting a man at a parking lot in Omaha’s Old Market district nearly three years ago.

Police said Friday that Tavar Hudson is in custody. Court records say he’s charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony. He’s suspected of shooting 19-year-old Deanthony Bryant on June 17, 2012. Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment about the accusation on Hudson’s behalf.

Police have said an officer on bike patrol noticed a large crowd around 2 a.m. that day and then heard gunfire. The officer found the wounded Bryant in the parking lot. Police say Bryant was pronounced dead later at a hospital.
