SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A convicted robber who fled from a Texas halfway house has been caught and faces charges of trying to hold up the same two banks he robbed in 2010.

Brian Anthony Whitford was charged Thursday with escape and two counts of bank robbery.

FBI agents arrested the 37-year-old Whitford on Wednesday in San Antonio.

Whitford on Monday walked away from a halfway house in Del Valle (VAL’-ee) while completing his sentence for robbing two Austin banks in April 2010.

A federal complaint says Whitford later Monday robbed a Compass Bank, fleeing with about $3,700 and then tried to rob a Wells Fargo Bank.

Prosecutors say those were the same two banks that Whitford was previously convicted of robbing, leading to a nearly six-year prison term.
