GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) - A large soda ash facility in southwest Wyoming is now under a new owner.

The $1.64 billion acquisition of the FMC plant near Green River by international mining company Tronox Limited closed on Tuesday.

Spokesman David Caplan tells the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner (https://bit.ly/1y2QAYU ) that all workers at the Alkali Chemicals soda ash plant will keep their jobs.

Alkali Chemicals employs about 1,000 people.

The plant takes mined trona and processes it into soda ash, which is used for many common items, such as glass and detergent.

Tronox plans on operating Alkali Chemicals as a separate business unit.
