JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Authorities are looking for four teenagers who escaped early Thursday from the downtown Jackson Detention Center.

Two of the inmates are 16 while the others are 17. Two were being held on armed robbery charges, one for aggravated assault and the fourth of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis tells local media that the inmates climbed out windows on one of the top floors of the facility and used blankets that had been tied together to climb down to the street.

Lewis says the inmates were able to remove a bar from a window that was already broken to escape.
