AREDALE, Iowa (AP) - An Aredale woman must serve six months in prison after she admitted to lying to a federal grand jury about a drug investigation.

Ashley Tufte was sentenced to prison Tuesday following her perjury conviction. She also was fined $1,000 and ordered to serve three years of supervised release once she completes her prison sentence.

Authorities say Tufte made false statements to a grand jury in May 2012 regarding her knowledge of Nels Nolan Nelson’s drug dealing.

Nelson was sentenced to more than three years in prison on drug conspiracy charges in April 2014.
