PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say five people are injured following a crash involving an ambulance in Port Huron.

The crash happened about 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say a 71-year-old patient was being transported when the Tri-Hospital EMS ambulance went through a red light, hitting a passenger car.

Fire Battalion Chief Steve McBride tells the Times Herald of Port Huron that two people in a car were injured in the crash. Police say they were trapped inside the car. Details on their conditions weren’t released around midday Thursday.

Police say the ambulance’s driver, another medic and a Port Huron firefighter in the ambulance were treated and released.

Roadways were closed as the crash was under investigation. A second crash happened in the area about 10 p.m. when a truck hit a light pole.
