BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A 26-year-old Crow Agency man who stabbed a girl, causing a collapsed lung, has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1yFB0NJ ) U.S. District Judge Susan Watters sentenced Kevin Bryan White on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in December to assault resulting in serious injury for the October 2013 stabbing.

Prosecutors said White was drunk and fighting with his girlfriend when she ran to a nearby house where the girl was staying. The girl grabbed a bat and went over to the house to make sure White had left. The girl said White took the bat, punched her in the face and stabbed her in the side, causing her lung to collapse.

Watters’ sentence included recommendations that White undergo treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.
