DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have charged a man with an 8th DUI after a traffic stop in Dover.

It happened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday on Peachtree Run Road. Police say a trooper on patrol saw an SUV traveling with expired registration.

Authorities say during a traffic stop, the trooper smelled alcohol and began a DUI investigation.

Fifty-two-year-old Robert S. Crain of Dover was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and numerous traffic offenses. Police say a computer check showed Crain has seven DUI convictions dating to 1996; the most recent was in August of last year.
