COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - An expert on children’s literacy and what can be done to help them learn to read is speaking on the University of South Carolina campus.

Florida State University associated professor Young-Suk Kin is scheduled to speak Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Her talk at the Russell House Theatre is free and open to the public.

Kim does research on intervention studies in high poverty schools and how best to help children learn to both read and write.

Her talk is sponsored by the USC Research Consortium on Children and Families.
