GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A former bookkeeper in the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder’s Office has acknowledged embezzling thousands of dollars from her employer.

The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reported Thursday (https://goo.gl/kGLaH2 ) that 51-year-old Robin McMillan pleaded guilty to theft from $20,000 to $100,000 and to filing a false tax return.

Police say she estimated that she stole about $50,000 from the office, but a victim impact statement from early October listed the loss as $411,000 dating back to 2008.

McMillan is scheduled to be sentenced May 28.
