POWAY, Calif. (AP) - Federal officials say drug enforcement agents have busted an “industrial-scale” hash oil extraction lab in San Diego County.

The U-T San Diego newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1xDxGY5 ) large quantities of hash oil and marijuana were seized when agents served a search warrant at a location in Poway on Wednesday.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration spokeswoman Amy Roderick says the operation could produce large amounts of hash oil daily.

The newspaper says the facility used carbon dioxide - rather than the more commonly used butane - to extract THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.

Roderick says the process is not flammable as when butane is used, but is still dangerous, as it could cause an explosion.
