PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (AP) - State officials are investigating corporal punishment allegations at a middle school in Perth Amboy.

The Home News Tribune (https://mycj.co/1GOChca ) reports the principal and vice principal at the William McGinnis School have been placed on administrative leave.

Parents say students were recently made to march in formation around the building with their backpacks or book bags.

Police say state child welfare officials are handling the investigation.
