COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A central Ohio man who turned himself in after being featured on a law enforcement smartphone app and social media page has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography.

Court documents say investigators last year found hundreds of files of child pornography on the computer of 33-year-old Jeremiah Malfroid.

Malfroid was charged in October with production, receipt, distribution and possession of child pornography, and authorities say he had absconded after the search.

Investigators say Malfroid turned himself in in December in the northern California city of Oroville in part because of the attention his case received on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement smartphone app and Facebook page.

He pleaded guilty Thursday to a single count of producing child pornography. A message to his attorney seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned Thursday.
