LE GRAND, Iowa (AP) - Police say they arrested six people after receiving a call from a California mother who said her 16-year-old son was being held against his will at a home in Le Grand.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says the arrests occurred early Wednesday morning on various charges, including false imprisonment and child endangerment. Chief Deputy Steve Hoffman says authorities received the mother’s call Tuesday evening and secured a search warrant for the home.

Hoffman says the teen escaped when his alleged captors were asleep. He says the mother claims the teen had been threatened and coerced to stay at the residence for about two weeks.

Authorities say 27-year-old Chad Bryant, of Le Grand, was the only person charged with false imprisonment. The rest were arrested on drug charges and other crimes.
