DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police have arrested another suspect in connection with an overdose death of a 5-year-old girl.

Sgt. Jason Halifax says Deshaun Trombone was located and arrested Thursday on charges of child endangerment causing death, eight separate drug counts, and 16 counts of violation of a no contact order. Trombone has been sought since Jayda Canada died of a morphine overdose in October.

The girl’s mother, 25-year-old Tionne Bloodshaw, was arrested in November on similar charges. Trombone is Bloodshaw’s boyfriend.

Police say cocaine, morphine pills and other drugs were found in Bloodshaw’s home emergency crews responded to reports that Jayda wasn’t breathing.

Halifax says more charges may be filed against Trombone pending further investigation. Online court records don’t yet list an attorney for Trombone to seek comment on his behalf.
